December 26th 2014, JR was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. On 2/6/15 he underwent 8 hours of surgery to remove the majority of the tumor. They were only able to remove 80% of the tumor. The results showed a Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. While awaiting the next phase of treatment, JR collapsed. He was flown by airplane to Mayo and found to have numerous clots and one very large one had passed through his heart into his lungs. It is miraculous, according to the Mayo, that he lived through that! Now, he will begin 6 weeks of radiation on 3/16/15 and the probability of chemotherapy after that. Please join us in helping raise funds to help with expenses that insurance doesn’t cover.
