10/2/16: The woodland creatures most certainly found the nutritious bounty in the autumnal display at the church. Six days after the installation there were corn husks strewn about the rock garden, cemetery, and parking lot.
If you look carefully, you can see a gray squirrel at the base of the tree just beyond the pumpkins.
Our church president, Clancy, reports the squirrel was trying to pull the entire cob of corn up the tree.
The display and surrounding area was cleaned up late Saturday.
Fresh corn cobs were set out just before worship Sunday.
The donations were pre-peeled this time to prevent a repeat mess.
By the time church was dismissed this morning, several cobs were already half eaten.
And one cob of corn was found on the road near the Puposky Post Office.
Happy Fall!
9/25/16: This harvest display was constructed after worship today with real pumpkins from a member's garden and real field corn dangling from the stalks.
Will the neighborhood birds, deer and raccoons enjoy this bounty during the week?
