The bench was made from a spruce tree that Darlene's father-in-law, Otto, planted over 75 years ago on the church front lawn. The trees Otto planted had to be removed this past year to prevent damage to power lines or the church roof in the event of a windstorm. One of the church members that helped remove the trees commissioned the bench and applied the dedication tag.
